A girl in Australia got a liver transplant from a donor with type O blood. This type of blood is very rare and is know to be able to blend with other blood types. This makes type O blood ideal for transplants and surgery.
However, this girl was different. After receiving a type O liver, her entire blood type changed to O. This has never happened in human history. This is an absolutely amazing discovery.
A human being experienced a total shift in their genetic makeup by coming into contact with another. This is nothing less than a miracle. Granted, no one flew, no one made it to the church on time, and no one was born, but for the first time in our lives we have been apart of a truly unique and original circumstance of human history.
There are no doubt millions of questions to be asked and answered about this: was this random or was the blood or patient somehow altered to facilitate this change? can it happen intentionally? What are the chances? Does this change her DNA? Can we make blood stronger or weaker? How long will she survive? And so forth.
In this mix of questioning, we can be sure that our misguided atheist friends and media community will seize upon this opportunity to push the evolution debate forward. They will use this as direct evidence to the non-existence of God and will plaster our communities and airwaves with further reasons to increase pregnancy terminations, silence Christian voices, and teach atheism in our public school. We however know differently. This was a miracle designed by God to help further his Kingdom. We will only know with time if this was a miracle for this one time or if this was a lesson to us that could help save millions of lives. Perhaps even assist us in our battle for the unborn.
Just as the Africans have grown tall in their hot and dry enviornments and the Asians have remained round and nearer to the ground, humans have adapted to their circumstances. We grow hairy and smooth, blue eyed and brown, and now we know some bodies (at least one) can facilitate a blood type change to survive. But every single baby ever born in the 6-10 thousand years of human history has been born human and has died human. Just as our skin retracts in cold and loosens in heat, we adapt. But do we evolve... I dont believe so.
Penicillin cured someone for the first time a long time ago and it only happend once.. for a while. Perhaps this occurence will emulate and save millions more. This is an amazing discovery. Just as God creates larger miracles like the parting of the Red Seas (was that Moses or a character from Heros?) he also creates small ones. Only time will tell what size this miracle is.
I believe this whole situation is a glorious revolution of the power of God to change us and make us whole again.
